Bing : Copilot Search

Copilot Search aims to redefine the search experience by prioritizing emotional resonance, user trust, and memorability. While it is already functional and intelligent, the goal is to craft a distinctive visual identity, interaction model, and tone that create a delightful and trustworthy experience—one users actively choose.

In this project, I’m exploring two distinct visual languages to shape the product’s personality and emotional appeal. I'm developing high-fidelity prototypes to test these directions through user research, with a strong focus on how answers are represented and how design can foster trust. As part of the Design Systems team, I’m also building scalable answer patterns that align with the broader Kumo system and contribute to the North Star vision for Gen UI Copilot answers. My deliverables include polished visuals, interaction concepts, and scenario-driven prototypes to guide both immediate development and long-term design strategy.

Current

The current Copilot Search answer lacks a unique and compelling presentation, contributing to user hesitancy in trusting AI-generated results. To address this, team need to design for both trust and a distinctly positive experience. The current long-form text with a right-aligned image feels neutral, lacking clear hierarchy and engaging layout/motion. Our rebuilt search experience aims to be a new kind of intelligent and layered interface.

Bolder V exploration

I also explored diverse scenarios beyond text-heavy formats. This bolder, more expressive design improves glanceability and clarifies the visual hierarchy. It enables richer context, easier comparisons, multimedia integration, and interactive progressive disclosure. By leveraging the new grid system, it flexibly accommodates varied content while emphasizing synthesis—bringing key insights to the forefront.
